With the increasing availability of funds for physical activity and nutrition for obesity prevention, the HDSP Program has transitioned leadership on physical activity to the PAN Branch and shifted its focus to addressing this behavior through the health care setting and for secondary prevention of heart disease and stroke.
Currently the eight funded HDSP counties are working to develop relationships with health care providers and organizations to establish support for physicians and other clinicians to encourage physical activity among their patients for cardiovascular disease prevention and management.
