Now Easier Than Ever

Just 30 minutes of moderate activity a day for adults and 60 minutes a day for kids is all it takes to make a big, good change in our health. And, we now know that we don't have to do all our activity at one time. Movement and activity can be performed throughout the day.

Even better, everyday activities count toward our minutes. No need worry about expensive equipment or gym memberships. Just do a little bit more of what you probably already do each day.

Everyday, moderate-intensity activities that count toward our daily minutes include:

Walking briskly
Mowing the lawn
Doing chores like washing windows and floors
Golf, when walking and carrying clubs
Swimming
Bike riding
Dancing

Get Started
Right

If you are just starting to be physically active, remember that even small increases provide health benefits. Check with your physician first, then start with a few minutes of activity a day and gradually increase, working up to 30 minutes.

Log It!
It's easier to keep to an exercise plan when you can actually see your progress. Print out this Walking Log and watch your progress grow. This log is designed to be used with a step counter. These affordable devices can be very helpful as you work to track your progress.

Keep Going
If you already get 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity a day, you can gain even more health benefits by increasing the amount of time that you are physically active or by taking part in more vigorous-intensity activities. So step it up and enjoy even more health benefits!
