Hosting a Legislative Heart Health Day
Target state legislators, policy makers, and staff about:
- Increasing awareness of the number-one and number-three killers in the United States, heart disease and stroke
-
Publicizing community-based cardiovascular health promotion and disease prevention services that are available.
The overarching goal is to reach people who are in a position to influence policy change and assist in the development of resources. The event may feature meetings with legislators, a complimentary low-fat lunch, and a health fair. The health fair should include cardiovascular screenings, health counseling, and hands-on activities and exhibits that may be provided by various health care providers, local health departments and other partner organizations.
